On my tours at NYBG I am often asked if we have beavers. The answer is yes, we do! Beavers (Castor canadensis) are basically active in the early morning or late afternoon. Muskrats, (Ondatra zibethicus), have a round long tail, not flat and do resemble beavers, Both are members of the rodent family. You can see the muskrats at the Twin Lakes and look for beavers on the Bronx River.
