Cedar Waxwing begging adult for food. Notice the red lining in the mouth. which shows it is immature but not recently out of the nest. This bird is almost mature and still looking for a handout.
Picture
Cedar waxwings fly in flocks of up to 15-30 birds searching for berries to swallow whole. Look for them on Crabapple trees from September - January
Picture
Cedar Waxwings are berry eaters and enjoy the fall fruits in most city parks.

Yellow breasted Chat visited the Verizon Plaza pocket park in midtown on 10/30/21. Photographed by many, this bird is usually hard to find and photograph. What a treat! But everyone needs to stop feeding him so he can continue to migrate and not get caught up in a winter freeze. We lost three Chats, years ago at Bryant Park after they dined on French fries and forgot to leave. They died in a frost behind a vendor's Christmas cart.

Field Sparrows! Another October Treat. Look for bright white eye ring and bright pink feet.
